HISTORY

SWISS CANYON TRAIL was born in 1994 under the name Trail de l’Absinthe. Since then, the race has evolved to welcome more than 2’000 runners in four races: the ultra 111K, the 81K, the 51K and the 31K (also in Nordic Walking). The organizers have always put the wishes and well-being of the runners first, listening to the comments and offering all the essential facilities for the comfort of everyone. Participating in the SWISS CANYON TRAIL is a unique experience!

We wish all the runners to live an event rich in emotions and to take a maximum pleasure in this wonderful, unique and natural environment. Be ready to meet the famous green fairy at a turn! She might just come to your aid where the going gets tough! And a huge THANK YOU to the 500 volunteers who provide an outstanding job.

SWISS CANYON TRAIL – member of the Trail by Train Tour

The Trail by Train Tour (TTT) brings together events that are concerned with preserving the environment. Their particularity? Their starting points are all close to a train station. No need for a car! Trail runners are nature lovers, almost by definition. Unfortunately, they sometimes contribute to harming it when they travel long distances by car.

PARTNER RACES

TWO RACES, COMMON POINTS

Both races are characterized by their natural environment. The island of Reunion and the green valleys of western Switzerland are ideal terrain for trail races. LA DIAGONALE DES FOUS AND SWISS CANYON TRAIL They have been building an exceptional partnership for several years. Building on the obvious similarities between the two races and offering exciting opportunities to interested runners, the collaboration has allowed for the exchange of elite runners and has fostered a closer relationship. Being a finisher of the Swiss Canyon Trail 111K not only earns you valuable ITRA points, but also other advantages: in order to take part in the Diagonale des Fous, everyone has to go through the official Grand Raid de La Réunion draw, but the first 50 registrants and finishers of the 111K have been given the opportunity to be selected by the Grand Raid committee to take part in the legendary race in La Réunion. First registered, first served.

MIUT® – Madeira Island Ultra Trail will offer an exciting challenge, across the island, from sea to sea, in a North-West-South-East direction, starting from Porto Moniz, at sea level, with passages through the highest points of the island, and then again at sea level, in Machico.

QUEBEC MEGA TRAIL AND SWISS CANYON TRAIL

Finishers of the Swiss Canyon Trail 81K and 111K get a 30% discount on the registration for the Quebec Mega Trail QMT 80 or QMT 110. Finishers of the QMT 80 and QMT 110 get a 30% discount on the registration for the Swiss Canyon Trail 81K or 111K. For the winners (1st man and 1st woman) of the Swiss Canyon Trail 81K, the registration for the QMT 80 K is free, a plane ticket and accommodation for 4 nights are offered in order to participate in the QMT of the same year.
